The Hungarian Olympic Committee has announced that Olympic champion swimmer Ágnes Kovács will continue her work in the Budapest Olympic Committee as co-chairwoman. Alongside the organization’s president, Tamás Bényi Szabolcs, she will now participate in the committee’s strategic and preparatory tasks as co-chairwoman.


Ágnes Kovács is not a new player in the committee’s life: she has previously worked as a member of the organization, together with the two other Olympic champions, Gábor Horváth and Dr. Antal Kovács. The co-chairwomanship invitation came based on a decision by the Hungarian Olympic Committee’s presidency, which the athlete accepted with great honor.


“I am honored by the invitation, to which I immediately said yes. As an Olympic champion and a committed supporter of Hungarian sports, it has long been my heart’s desire that Budapest one day host the Olympic Games. I have been working for this cause for more than ten years, and I am happy to continue my work,” said Ágnes Kovács.


The aim of the Budapest Olympic Committee is to establish and strategically support the professional concept, social dialogue and preparatory processes of a possible Budapest Olympics.

The role of co-chairman entails a responsibility in which international sports diplomacy experience, knowledge of sustainable sports event organization, and authentic representation of Olympic values ​​are of exceptional importance. Ágnes Kovács’s sports career to date, her research and sports diplomacy work, and her extensive experience in international and domestic sports all contribute to her participating as a professionally credible and strong player in supporting Budapest’s Olympic aspirations.
